GRIP satisfied what I’ve wanted in a racing game for a while, COMBAT!
The last combat racing game I remember truly enjoying (besides Mario Kart) had to be Blur. Although GRIP only has limited items (shields and homing missiles), items are not GRIP’s focal point. At its core, GRIP is a racing game and your goal is to end up in first place. I often found myself in first on normal difficulty, but quickly realized a simple hit off of a wall or an incoming missile was enough to kick me back to last place!
In addition to items, GRIP has an insane sense of speed while allowing cars to scale walls, drive on the ceiling of a tunnel and even bunny hop over obstacles. There are a handful of ways that GRIP allows players to take control of a race and get in first place. Vehicles also have a range of customizations, couple that with destructible environments and GRIP is a game I’d love to play some more!
GRIP is available now on Steam Early Access for $19.99.
Releasing later 2018 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
