Goons: Legends & Mayhem at its core is a simple arcade hockey game with characters having different powers available to use.
It’s been a while since I’ve played a hockey game that I truly enjoyed. I’m not a fan of the full realistic hockey type game, instead, I prefer a good classic arcade hockey game, the likes of NHL’s 3-on-3 Arcade which was released back in 2009 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Goons has very similar vibes but also includes powers for each of their characters. It also introduces a Rock-Paper-Scissors on faceoff system which honestly I don’t understand why it hasn’t been added to a game until now.
Although we only got to play a 2v2 match, there are single players modes available, and it also does appear that you have special levels and bosses that you need to defeat. As we only got to demo the 2v2 mode during our game session, all I can say is that this is an extremely fun party game. As neither team controls the goalie, it keeps things fair. That is until you start the argument that the AI is working against you!
