Cede is a world broken into pieces. What was once a flourishing planet is now a wasteland of floating rocks. The land has been engulfed by darkness and oppressed by monsters. Cede is in a desperate need of a pillar of light. Enter Seph who is full of will and hope. Seph plans to restore light and beauty to Cede. This is a tall task for him alone, so he created Lil Boi’s. Together they are in for a landscaping project of biblical proportions.
Developer BareHand describe Cede as a combat farming game. Run on floating isles and throw seeds to add life (no water required, just combat). Cede brings a different life to landscaping. Cover more of the map with lush greenery and you can uncover sprouts that can be powered up by Lil Boi’s. Each Lil Boi possesses a unique skill that can change the dynamic of gameplay.
During the demo, I was able to grow flowers that can bare fruit to provide health, or plant a crowd controlling plant that shoots projectiles at enemies. You can relocate the flowers to dedicated zones for healing, offense, and support. Strategy is essential to effectively spread the magical sod. Once the map has been filled with green, a golden seed pops which triggers the growth of a jungle. All that growth then lays down roots to connect to a new territory.
Cede delivers a strong message, hope is alluring. You may have ceded all, but never your hope. Plant the seed of hope and optimism will sprout. What flourishes next is a thing of beauty. Creation.
A big THANK YOU to BareHand for letting me experience this game and giving me a plant to remind me of the world of Cede.
