Astro Duel 2 is the perfect party game to settle disputes. Typically I go for something like a Smash Bros, but when you need something less technical but still challenging, Astro Duel 2 is it!
Rusty introduced us to the basic mechanics as shown in the video, but once you get the hang of the simple controls, you’ll need to figure out what each of the ‘classes’ does. I went with the Drill, however, there is a Phoenix class, and also a Heavy one each with a unique ability. The Drill for example can charge at you, whereas the heavy has a Warpshot ability.
My favorite thing about the game is how you can go from a dogfight in “outer space” and switch over to the inside of the map and use your pilot to fight instead. Once you get hit inside of your ship, your pilot also needs to be taken out, otherwise after a few seconds, the ship respawns and you get another go at it, so if you’re attacking, you better be alert!
The game is out now on multiple platforms, and it makes for a great couch co-op game, or our personal favorite, the versus battles. We’re definitely going to be on this for our next Just Us Gaming session!
