Digital Game Rentals Are The Future

Game rentals used to be an integral part of every gamer's life. 3 day rentals from Blockbuster or Hollywood Video were definitely highlights of my weekends as a kid, but movie and game rental stores are gone. GameFly is still around, but I'd argue that game rentals in 2017 are dead. Here's my plan to revamp video game rentals.

Visiting Cryptozoic’s booth at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2017 was supposed to be simple. Walk to the booth, grab Harley Quinn Golden Goddess for Oz (sorry Oz), pay, then leave. Although once I got to Cryptozoic’s booth, something unexpected happened. I saw The Joker Calling Card Bloody Noir Edition, and I had to have it!

A friend asked to borrow my PS3. He intends to subscribe to PS Now, play the games he wants and return my PS3. PS Now is also a feature of Sony Blu-ray players that retail for around $70. Effectively making 'high quality' gaming cheaply available. If Blu-ray players aren't your thing, Sony and Samsung offer PS Now on a handful of TVs.

Alan Wake was announced at E3 2005 for next-gen consoles and PC. 5 years later, Alan Wake launched exclusively on Xbox 360, followed by a PC release in 2012. Despite having a large budget, backing by Microsoft, and developed by Remedy Games (Max Payne), Alan Wake could not gain traction as a powerhouse franchise. But its story and main game mechanic will forever be why Alan Wake is one of the greatest games ever.
