TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge brings me back to a time when wearing tighty whities with the ninja turtles on was socially acceptable. What a time to be alive it was! Style brings back the classic cartoon and the arcade game. Action-packed with a little comedic zest TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge truly keeps true to the roots of our amphibious quartet, but this time, we also get an extra two joining the fight!
Button mashing welcomed. Kick and punch your way through this side scroller and unleash rad combos to take down Shredder’s minions with style. Go in solo or make it a party with friends just don’t forget the pizza. If you do decide to play with others you can team up locally or online. Though my favorite experience was volleying foes back and forth with my friends. The true gusto comes from the boss fights and the unique sequences that they each have. All we can say is soak in the details and enjoy. For those who know the true meaning of cowabunga and tubular to those who just like kick ass.
Oz’s Reaction
Developer Tribute Games kept it true to their name and are definitely paying tribute to the original side-scrolling arcade gem that was Turtles in Time. Speaking with Tribute, we got the confirmation of a Campaign (story) mode and also an arcade mode. Next to the four turtles, both April, and Master Splinter join the cast as selectable characters, each complete with their own unique specials. There was something just refreshing seeing the turtles back on the screen with the classic retro pixel art style, paired with the voices, the music, the entire thing just screams Game of Show for me. I tried to squeeze as much as I could out of this demo, unfortunately, the Tribute guys were not budging at any of my questions. Sadly we didn’t get a confirmation on a potential Casey playable character, or even a Sewer Surfing level. We did however confirm that the game cannot be played with bots, you’ll only be able to run it with other players, either local or online.
