Seven years ago I received a pair of GUNNAR glasses as a gift. Even after all these years, I am still an advocate for GUNNAR. Blue light can cause eyestrain, and GUNNAR Optiks’ latest Work-Play Lens has a Blue Light Protection Factor (BPF) of 65. Aside from protecting your eyes from blue light, GUNNAR glasses also allow other colors to ‘pop out’. Now with GUNNAR Optiks Work-Play Lens, I’ll be able to test out a pair of GUNNAR glasses both indoors and out.
I don’t have the medical background to prove that using GUNNAR glasses has reduced the stress on my eyes, but I feel good wearing the glasses. Immediately after putting them on, I want to repeatedly bounce side to side while saying “Swag!”. I don’t wear glasses (other than sunglasses), but Intercept Work-Play Lens made me want to always wear a pair. People complimented them left and right, and I did nothing out of the ordinary (Swag!). Since Work-Play is a transitional lens, I wanted to test them through different phases of my life; work, leisure and of course, play.
Work
I go to work in a suit. Typically the highlight of my outfit is a tie, but man these GUNNAR Work-Play glasses got me stylin’! If you saw me with and without the glasses, you’d think my IQ is exceptionally higher while I’m wearing them. Like many other people, I stare at a computer screen for the majority of the work day. On top of that, lighting in my office drastically changes ranges from sunlight piercing through the window behind me, to horrific fluorescent lights. To be honest, while I wore the glasses, I was unable to tell when sunlight was replaced by fluorescent lights. Blurring the lines between different types of light really highlights Work-Play Lens’ ability to provide a seamless transition while reducing eyestrain.
Everyday
If the sun doesn’t come out and play, don’t worry! No rain delays here since Work-Play Lens has a default tint that resembles the vibe of a sunny day. They let you transition through your day no matter the weather. Say you’ve been inside gaming all day, and your dog gives you that “I need to go” look. When you take the dog outside, it’s almost like you’re a vampire, quickly attempting to shield your eyes from the bright sunlight. Or if you’re in a dark room and someone flips on the light switch, that stark change in brightness can be shocking. GUNNAR Work-Play Lens removes all of the eye shock from varying degrees of brightness. I even forgot I had them on while driving and there were no problems. A random little feature I enjoyed was seeing the separation of headlights. Pretty cool to see the glass technology at work.
Gaming
I wore them for a week straight and I can generally say, it allowed me to focus faster. In the gaming world, focus can be that game-winning headshot that will be spoken about for years, or it can be making a late night gaming session less of a headache, literally. Most of the time we’re gaming in dark rooms where the only light source is coming from a television or monitor. Doing this night after night can’t be a good thing for our eyes. Now multiply that by a couple of years and you’ve caused some serious damage to your vision.
Conclusion
We don’t realize the strenuous daily challenges we put our eyes through. From stress because of lack of sleep, office work, gaming or just binging on your favorite series. Eyestrain can cause discomfort that limits productivity and keeps you from being the best you. GUNNAR Work-Play Lens won’t help with being sleep deprived, but they can definitely help keep your eyes rested through the daily screen grind. I feel like the biggest strength of the glasses is the transitional feature, quickly adjusting to different types of lighting. These are not meant for looking directly at the sun, but they can make everyday exposure to light less stressful on your eyes. Preventing eye strain with style. These are awesome but don’t take my word for it, see the world through a pair of GUNNAR Optiks Work-Play Lens for yourself.
