That fast-spinnin’ blue hedgehog definitely had some great music. Picking one song from Sonic The Hedgehog was a difficult task, but ultimately I decided on Green Hill Zone Theme. It’s the song from Sonic that everyone knows and loves, plus it matches the game so well that you imagine beautiful butterflies fluttering on a hot summer day. Wait, what?

Sonic The Hedgehog was the reason every kid in the early 90s wanted Sega Genesis. Genesis came out way before SNES, but despite Genesis’ better graphics and sound than NES, Sega still had a tough time competing with Nintendo’s famous plumbers – Mario & Luigi. Sega went into the lab trying to find a mascot for their latest console, somehow they exited the lab with a hedgehog. I doubt many people even know what a real hedgehog looks like (here’s one for you), but when I was 7 years old, I didn’t even care that a hedgehog is a real animal, I just wanted to play Sonic!

Never before had a game exhibited extreme speed like Sonic The Hedgehog. Not only were you the controlling the fastest character around, you could become invincible with stars, run even faster with red sneakers, break through walls cause you’re crazy-fast and crazy-strong, and of course defy gravity by going through inversions to collect those awesome rings! But what really made Sonic The Hedgehog memorable is its music. If you have a moment, check out Sonic The Hedgehog OST, it’s marvelous. Even the Game Over tune is fabulous! Anyways, Green Hill Zone is probably the most memorable, so here you go, enjoy!
