Japan has Pikachu on their side for the 2014 FIFA World Cup!

It’s not everyday a cartoon/video game gets recognition on a grand scale. During the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, you’ll be seeing an icon on the Japanese sidelines, Pikachu!

Both The Pokémon Company and Adidas went public in their marketing strategy for this years World Cup which will take place from June 12 – July 13.

Japan who qualified through the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is part of Group C in the World Cup. Their first match will be against the Ivory Coast on June 14, 2014. Group C consist of Colombia and Greece, the other two teams they will have to face during the competition.
