Stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp… Command & Conquer: Red Alert, the second major game in C&C’s universe brought us new items like nukes, Tesla coils, paratroopers, and gems. But best of all, Red Alert brought new music, in particular a song named Hell March. When Hell March started playing, it immediately became time for WAR!

Command & Conquer is probably my favorite video game series of all time. I can recall more fun times playing solo C&C missions, co-op missions (oh hai TheMvn, truOZ, RamB4MM), and even battling 1v1 over 33.6Kbps modems. Even though Red Alert is the second major entry of C&C, its predecessor had great music too. The genius behind the tunes is a man named Frank Klepacki. C&C would have always been a great series because of its fantastic gameplay, but without Frank behind the music, I’m unsure if C&C would be as memorable. Frank seems to have a knack for composing music with catchy riffs that convey emotion. In fact, I believe a lot of Red Alert’s design is based around Frank’s concept of Hell March, which really makes his music a centerpiece and not an afterthought.

I’m sure almost everyone has heard this song before, but if you haven’t, you’re in for a real treat. Enjoy 🙂
