Space Run, if you don’t already know, is a mix of strategy and space ship construction that delivers a new experience to tower defense games. You start off as a newbie cargo delivery ship that’s only delivering boxes, but as you level up, you start getting more dangerous and expensive cargo. En route to your destination carrying the cargo, enemies are going to shoot and try to destroy you and your cargo; and that is where the tower defense/space construction comes in!
You start off in the beginning with just a couple of weapons, but as you progress, kill enemies and gather coins, you can expand your weaponry as well as other defensive items. There are so much to this game that it is mind blowing and I love it.
During the beginning of the game, you think, “Wow, this is neat and pretty easy”. You start buying powerups, new weapons, shields and even missiles. But, when you least expect it, a massive swarm of enemies come at you and you’re expecting you could destroy them easily. No. You’re wrong. They annihilate you. In Space Run, you can strategize and place weapons/defenses where ever you see fit; you can even change the position of the guns as their proximity sensors are limited. Your ship will grow and expand as you level up and so will your arsenal, but it doesn’t make it any easier. And that’s what makes this game so damn hard, but so damn fun at the same time. The game bombards you with so many enemies at once that you have no freaking idea what to do and you are completely overwhelmed (I guess this is what it’s like to be a ship captain). Once you get the hang of it, it gets easier, but you are still going to get killed. There’s no doubt about it…this is all about strategy. Where should you place the cargo? Where should you put the shields? Where can I put the missile that will make it the most effective as you can’t rotate missiles? These are all the questions you will ask yourself and when you fail…hate yourself.
Space Run, as aggravating as it is when you fail over and over, or when you keep trying to get 3 stars on a mission; you will love every second of it. It is a work of genius as this is a type of game I’ve always wanted, but no one ever created it. It includes two of my favorite genres; space and strategy. If you are looking for a time killer that will keep you occupied for a long time, then this is the game for you. Remember, do not toss your mouse at your monitor…that will only aggravate you more.
