Extended cut: Pokémon’s Super Bowl ad!

It’s hard to believe that Pokémon is still running strong 20 years later. I feel old just writing that but it’s amazing to see the new generation find inspiration in something I too loved as a child. Super Bowl 50 is just a few weeks away and The Pokémon Company must have spent a few million in order to air their ad during the event. Expect to see a shorter version of the ad above celebrating its 20 years of existence.

Although the first bit of the ad features more inspiration, you then see the “Like no one ever was,” slogan on the locker room, an homage to the original theme song. Which then breaks out into a full blown battle between a few Pokémon.

Celebrating its 20 year anniversary, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have announced a release of the classics like Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow available through the eShop on February 27. As well as a themed release of a Nintendo 3DS handheld console.

Not only will it be releasing the classics but also Pokkén Tournament for Wii U on March 18, and Pokémon Go on mobile devices later this year.

The Pokémon Company is going all out celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2016!

Oz plays Rocket League and is very bad at it, but at least he tries. As long as there are games to talk about, he's in his happy place.
