Call of Duty Elite shuts down Friday Feb 28th

Remember that extra subscription that Call of Duty wanted to tack on to your yearly gaming price? Which later went free? Oh you don’t remember? Well who cares, it’s going away in two days anyway.

I bought into the it when first announced. Call of Duty Elite was a great service for hardcore fans to see game stats and have extra related content. It offered heat maps which were interesting to plan a mode of attack, and strategies to dominate the competition. Elite TV was great too, they offered weekly shows like Friday Night Fights, a show where 2 teams of 4 competed along side a professional gamer coach against each other in a best of 3 match. They themed it with match ups like Army vs Navy, Obey vs Optic, iJustine vs Michelle Rodriguez, and many others.

It’s been a while since I really cared or even logged in to Elite, so with that, it’s hard to say that I will miss the content, was it useful? Sure at one point… but all of that information shouldn’t be a part of a subscription, just toss it up for free on YouTube or have another way to get that out there. It will likely do well, just advertise it within the game. Have an in-game player perhaps? There are many alternatives, but only the future will tell us how it will be.

On the bright side, anyone who logged in prior to January 1, 2014 you will be receiving two hours of double XP on Call of Duty Ghosts.

Oscar Ventura

Oz plays Rocket League and is very bad at it, but at least he tries. As long as there are games to talk about, he's in his happy place.
